I gasped for air as I sprinted down the street. It was the darkest when I didn’t need it. I saw the foggy air being illuminated by a street light in the distance. It seemed so far, but I had to convince my legs to carry me there. I couldn’t stop because I couldn’t let him catch me.
“Come back here! You’re mine!”
I heaved my breath out harder as I could tell he was catching up. Was I to that light yet? I glanced back only to see I had passed the light and his dark shadow was right under it; The twisted smile on his face, like that of a rabid dog, illuminated momentarily by the lamps glow.
“Somebody help me!” I screamed. But I was replied by a gust of wind howling over an empty street. I kept running. Every part of me screamed to stop, but I didn’t dare. The inkling of his presence drawing closer horrified me. The next street light! I could see it. I sighed amongst my heavy breathing. How long had I been running?
There was somebody under the light. The figure leaned casually against the support pole.
“Please, you’ve got to help me!” I panted running up to him. I nearly fell as I finally came to a stop, my feet surprised from the sudden force. My stomach was met by a gentle arm, and the man pulled me back to my feet.
“What’s wrong?” I waited a minute. I dazzled at his beauty, even in the darkness around him. He suited it just as it suited him.
Snap out of it, Sarah!
“Th-the man… Behind me… He’s my ex-boyfriend. He’s trying to kill me. I’ve been running from him for blocks.” I was still panting heavily, and I could see my breath fly into the air. Was it that cold before?
“This way,” he said tugging my arm. We went between two buildings. I hadn’t even seen the alleyway, although it was so dark, I didn’t know how he did.
He must live around here, I thought to myself.
It was a dead end, but I suspected we were going to hide here. Then he slammed me onto the wall. My back felt like it crumpled into a million pieces. I couldn’t move, and went limp in his arms.
“What?” I whispered.
“Didn’t you learn not to talk to strangers?” He began to lean his mouth down towards my neck.
Vampire?!
“No! Stop!” I tried moving my hands, but they wouldn’t work.
“Is this who you ran off to? Huh? You worthless bitch!” The voice from the opening to the alleyway made him stop, and turn around. I squinted in the darkness.
“Ed? Great, now I have two assholes in one alley. At the same time. Guess I’m gonna die…” I felt the vampire turn his attention back towards me. He smiled and chuckled from what I could tell. It was getting darker than before. The light from the street lamp was fading, and I could feel my consciousness drifting.
I was set on the ground, and the last thing I heard was a curtailing scream from Ed.
Might be a few mistakes. Just wrote it. ^^;
